Having spent 8 years fully immersed in the day to day activities of growing and building a membership based state peak body, I was finding it hard to ‘see the wood for the trees’. I was lucky to meet Connie and Nicki at AusAE’s ACE Conference. Both women had been high achievers in a membership based associations with hands on ‘real’ experience of the things I was grappling with. Strategic planning is inherently challenging for an alliance of organisations such as ours, each with its own set of priorities – a challenge Nicki Hauser readily accepted. She took the time to understand the core purpose of our organisation and then through phone interviews canvassed perspectives across the range of disparate stakeholders in our network to develop and deliver a highly productive strategic planning session.
